The Arab Community Centre of Toronto's main work is to provide settlement and related services to newcomers to facilitate their transition to Canada. Staff assists clients with a holistic approach that recognizes that settlement involves all aspects of life.
Settlement Services
ACCT's resourceful staff have the necessary tools and training to respond to a variety of newcomer queries
Our services include:
- Assistance in accessing health services and related referrals
- Accessing education, whether grade schools or higher education
- English language classes referrals (including LINC class referrals)
- Translation and interpretation services
- Employment assistance services and information workshops
- Referrals regarding government services, including social assistance
- Assistance in filing forms for social insurance numbers, driver's licensing, child tax benefit, etc.
- Assistance in completing Citizenship & Immigration forms, Study Permits, Work Permit, Student Visa, Sponsorship applications, etc.
- Referral to lawyers, legal aid, doctors, etc.
- Employment sector specific information sessions
- Para-professional counseling services to individuals, families and youth
- Youth at risk para-professional counseling
Staff assess clients' settlement needs and refer them to the appropriate programs and services in the community. The ACCT also organizes workshops on a variety of settlement topics, (such as budgeting and finance management), and outreach to other community organizations.

Employment Services
The ACCT aims to assist clients in overcoming systemic or personal barriers to employment, and to help them achieve their personal goals. Thus, support through the Job Search Workshop ranges from assistance with resume writing to follow-up during the job search process.
The ACCT recognizes that this component of our services is the most requested by newcomers and also that we are in the position of building bridges to employment opportunities for our clients.

- Job search workshops
- Resume development assistance
- Employment sector specific workshops (for example medical doctors, engineers, accountants, etc.)
- Referral to accreditation bodies
- Referral to upgrading of skills
